Research
My Google Scholar's page is the most up-to-date place to find my research.
I am currently working on projects related to cancer care and the impact of different health plan benefits on out-of-pocket payments (aka, cancer financial toxicity). These projects use Colorado's All-Payers Claims Database (APCD) since it has claims from most payers, which allows for cross-payer comparisons. We have linked the ACPD to Cancer Registry data. Augmenting cancer registry data with claims data has a lot of benefits, as our paper showed. I am also working on a project to add financial information to our previous linkage.
Other projects involve estimating expenditures and the presentation of adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) as they sort into different payers. I am using the same data to understand the presentation and expenditures of Long COVID patients. The next step is to use predictive models (decision trees, via XGBoost) to predict (likely) undiagnosed cases.
