Teaching
New class (2026)
- Applied Artifical Intelligence (HSMP 6635). New class on how large language models (LLMs) work. The class covers pre-training and post-training via fine-tuning and reinforcement learning. The class also covers environmental and employment consequences as well as practical applications. The goal is to prepare students who will be asked to work with AI models. Most applications are related to healthcare and medicine, including replicating previous studies and training a (small) language model. More details are on the syllabus.
